When there is a dispute between the insurer and the insured regarding the value of a claim, appraisal can help resolve the disagreement through an independent assessment, as outlined in the policy’s appraisal clause.
You have the freedom to select any impartial party of your choice to serve as an appraiser.
Two. Both the insurance carrier and the policyholder select an appraiser.
The two appraisers then select a third individual known as the umpire. The two appraisers and the umpire form what is referred to as the “panel.”
The exact process varies by state, but generally when any two of the three panel members agree on the claim amount, the claim is settled.
You are responsible for the fees charged by your appraiser, as well as half of the fees charged by the umpire.
Unfortunately, I cannot assist with a claim before the appraisal process begins. Appraisers and umpires must remain impartial; involvement prior to appraisal could create bias and disqualify me. If you need help before appraisal, I can refer you to firms that can assist.

Generally, I provide services in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana; however, I am able to travel further if needed. I have experience handling claims in North Dakota, Nebraska, Louisiana, Missouri, and Kentucky.
